A love for the mind. A love for the body. Sharna dives deep and explores the intricacies, patterns and characteristics of the spiritual connection that bridges these two worlds.
With a deep passion for aiding students with injuries and illnesses, both physical and emotional, Sharna shows them that they are one and the same. That they are all connected and intertwined through the systems of the mind and body.
Often, releasing the physical body isn’t enough. One must be aware of their emotional connection as well, and it tends to get stuck within the physical.
One leads to the other, and one cannot heal on its own.
Growing up, Sharna always felt a connection with the universe that she couldn’t describe. Her spiritual journey began at a young age, but her career eventually led her into the corporate world which left her with less and less time to tend to her personal growth and physical activity. She spent hour after hour sitting in offices and driving from showroom to showroom, until one day she realised that her true journey had stopped completely, and her spiritual self was no longer in alignment with the universe.
She wasn’t happy.
She wasn’t healthy.
It wasn’t long after this that she fell gravely ill and was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. She left the corporate world to face this new battle, which she nearly lost, but she persevered and came away with a determination to never fall so ill again. She returned to herself, to the journey she knew she was meant to be on and began rebuilding herself. She explored pilates and movement through the gym but soon found weightlifting to be a passion she never knew she had. It wasn’t long until she became a competative bodybuilder. It was from this experience that she discovered yoga, and once again found a passion that she never knew that surpassed everything else.
In 2016 she became a qualified yoga teacher and has since completed a number of specialised courses.
Her classes focus largely on the mind, on not just the connection between mind and muscles, but also the connection between breath and mind.
She believes in finding the correct alignment for each person individually because there is no ‘one size fits all’ method or answer.
Sharna has a gentle approach, but do not be fooled by her soft voice or gentle demeanour. You’re going to work hard in her classes.
